Aku Yabah, Owusu wins TCGC President's Putter

Seasoned amateur lady golfer Aku Yabah and rising star in the men?s game Enoch E. Owusu took top honours at this year?s Presidents Putter golf tourney played at the Tema Country Golf Club (TCGC) last Saturday.

Yabah who plays with a handicap of 15, closed the one ? 18 Hole event with a net score of 73 to beat a high class field in the main ladies event at this well attended competition.

Her close of play score was one stroke better than that of Jessica Tei who placed second in the highly competitive event sponsored by the Captain of the TCGC, D. J. Yim.

Ann Brown and Joy Akutu finished the day with identical net scores of 75 with the former taking third position on the count back ahead of her rival.

The competition followed a similar pattern in the main event for the men as golfers battled hard to undo each other aiming to go home with the top prize.

In the end, Owusu was a dominant winner as his end of play net score of 64 over 18 holes, saw him take first position ahead of the other competitors.

Finishing in second position three strokes behind the winner was E. K. Ocansey who beat Afriyie Nyarko on the count back after they both closed the day with a net score of 67.

In the ladies category B event, Grace Amoah scored 74 net to win the contest ahead of Helen Appah whose net score of 76, was two strokes behind the winner.

The men category B contest was won by T. Gupta with 68 net ahead of Kofi Ampaw who also scored 68 but lost on the count back, with Aseidu Offei finishing in third position after closing the day on 71 net.

The next competition on the calendar of the TCGC is the Lipton bi ? monthly event which is scheduled to come off on Saturday, April 14 with the Tema Captain?s Prize set to be played the week after.
