Gambrah wins Achimota President's Putter

Accra, Jan. 13, GNA - Sampene Gambrah returned a net score of 65, to win this year's Achimota Golf Club President's Putter Open Championship played at Achimota in Accra on Saturday.

Kofi Baiden took the second position with 67net, beating Eduardo Castagna on count-back. Ebenezer Tetteh Mensah placed fourth with 68 net, while Edward Quarcoo placed fifth

wth 70 net. In the Ladies category, Eunice Adzakpo came first with 72

net, Margaret Owusu-Baah took the second position with 73

net, beating Ama Morgan on count-back, while Leticia

Amponsah-Mensah placed fourth with 74 net. T.K. Agama won the Professional's event with 70 gross,

Robert Degbe took the second position with 71 gross, while

Stephen Klah placed third with 72 gross, beating J.J. Harvey

on count-back. The one-day 18-Hole Medal Play, opened to amateur and

professional golfers in the Greater Accra Region, which

attracted 120 golfers, was sponsored by Mr Mike Ezan,

President of the Achimota Golf Club. Mr Bob Evans, captain of the Achimota Golf Club praised

the members for their participation in the competition and

asked them to keep it up. He also praised Mr Ezan for the leadership role he had

played to make the club what it is today. Mr Ezan on his part called on golfers to take active interest

in the activities of their respective clubs. Meanwhile the club will hold its Annual General Meeting to

elect new Executive Members on January 30.
