GH?20,000 up for grabs in Gold Fields PGAGhana Championships

Winner for this year's Gold Fields Ghana Professional Golfers Association of Ghana (PGAGhana) Championship will take home a whopping GH?20,000 as the ultimate prize.
The winner will also for the first time have the blue jacket as practised in European Masters' championship.

Gold Fields Ghana Limited who are title sponsors for the championship are also popping about $US70,000 as sponsorship package for the competition.
The golf championship is been organised by the PGAGhana and will be held at the Damang Golf Club from Wednesday, November 30, 2016 to Saturday, December 3, 2016.
According to the President of the PGAGhana, Mr Bliss B.K Ayivor said the tournament will bring together a pool of golfers from Togo, Cote D'Ivoire, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and South Africa.

He promised an exciting championship and added that it is his believe that this year's championship will again be retained in Ghana.

"The prize money at stake will stir up the interest in the golfers therefore we hope to see an exciting competition at Damang," he said.
Executive Vice President and Head of West Africa of Gold Fields, Mr Alfred Baku noted that the company's interest in the championship has soared to giddy proportions.

He mentioned that the sport of golf should be supported to the hilt to make the game tick at the professional level.

He assured that his company will go the whole hog in terms of its support for the PGA championship, adding that raising the bar in the upcoming championship is a test-case for all to see that their partnership with the Professional Golfers Association of Ghana has been fruitful.

Tournament Director and defending champion of the competition, Emos Korblah also added that about 80 professional golfers are expected to participate in the four-day competition and would be cut to 24 after the second day.

He said the 24 who will make it to the next two days will be given cash prizes.
The competition is also sponsored by Total, Stanbic, Connell Mining, Stellar Logistics, Real Mining Supply, ATS, BILAL and ZEN Petroleum.
