Manufacture your products in Ghana, or ....

...Ghanaians won’t buy your products

Made in Ghana products are coming into to fashion these days. Companies who want to sustainable businesses seem to be heeding to this concern.

Ghanaians are becoming political astute and are mapping themselves on the global platform. Ghana wants to see its own label globally currently by this one means “ Made in Ghana” products in every city in the world.

Our football squad the Black stars have firmly positioned Ghana on the international scene. All we need to do is to grasp the nettle and capture this brilliant opportunity right on our nose.

The timing is right for such moves and the smarter businesses are already pitching themselves for profitable businesses in Ghana. Our neighbours the South African and their vision for Shopping Malls are heading to Ghana.

Ghanaians themselves in Diaspora have realised this opportunity that Ghana has the potential to succeed in the global market.

Why do we need to struggle in Diaspora when our country has the potential to give us the greener pasture?

This call is for all Ghanaians with the right business acumen to head home to be part of the transformation cake. Ghanaians should not miss the boat to making it big on your own soil.

This is do-able if you have planned your way out from Diaspora 15 to 20 years ago you are laughing all the way to the bank now.

Ghanaians please don’t just let yourselves by enjoying on someone efforts on foreign lands. Do plan your life strategically, join the right dynamic groups to keep you focused. Explore your own Personal Developmental Plan effectively by revisiting more frequently thus re-planning towards retiring back home in luxury.

If no one heeds to this rude awakening call, it might be too be too late to do anything once one hits retirement age.

We should not forget to help Ghana if we have the means with job creations and other initiatives, hence giving such needed opportunities to our youths. Let us patronise “made in Ghana” products usage to increase our own productivity. T-shirts, plate mats, key rings, jeans, cushions covers, art and crafts, slippers, clothes etc and foodstuffs where ever we are.

Also as a nation need to share our experiences whilst in Diaspora as mentors and coaches to the youths and guide their career pathways. Let’s help our youth to be proud of Ghana.

As we are all aware, these days many Ghanaians have been refused visas left, right and centre in many countries, however, is it not about time Ghanaians call shots?

Let help to transform Ghana into a unique paradise to give Ghana the competitive advantage over others. Then we would also be choosy as to whom we let into our country.

This would mean people have to start thinking seriously, actively contributing to developments such as building public toilets in their own villages, libraries, and community centres rather than partying to every opportunity they get.

It would be nice if Ghanaians in each state of the US, UK, and others Ghanaian organisations club together and try to build at least 10 public toilets each city, town and villages. This would help us all to concentrate more on upgrading our public toilets all around our city stations, towns and villages.

Ironically, some of the successful Ghanaians among us, whether in Diaspora or in Ghana, fail to contribute to development of their own villages, towns or cities. They take for granted basic amenities such public toilets, libraries, and community centres in the communities where they now live, but care not about the lack of such amenities back in their place of their birth.

How could one walk comfortably in a village without any public toilets, a library or community centre and yet one want to be respected by the local people? Respect should be earned by what we do for others not our selves.

Do we just walk away hoping the President of Ghana and his Government would fix this? . We are happy to attend big funerals in huge cars to impress the poor among us. Shame shame shame unto us all. Soon impression will change to envy our old friends and relations.

If we as a nation are not contributing towards our own social developments, whom do we expect to chip in?

Loans and foreign aid I guess. Please don’t blame our President then.

People could have their names engraved into the libraries, community centres to leave a legacy. A good name as we know is better than riches. Why are we not as smart as the Bill Gate and the Warren Buffett’s who are heavily contributing towards good causes?

Wake up, wake up Ghana! You will find that the wise within every society does not boost of their material wealth. Instead, rather appear humble and happily serve others. Such people die gracefully.

As Ghanaians we are so selfish and only thinking of the mansions they would build to out stage their neighbours while people a mile away live in shacks?

No wonder everyone around these areas needs guards.

We have peace: respect for all classes of people, good food, good weather, good natural resources good friends and a good laugh too!

Shame! Shame! Shame onto all of us for sitting on the sideline, as spectators and just watching for the world to go pass us.

The challenge is now on Ghanaians to transform our mother country.

Investors are racing to Ghana in droves knowing that we have the expertise and the quality in education.

It is a gross mistake if we as Ghanaians, do not take pride in what we have got, and depend on other people’s finished products.

Perhaps our Government need to put heavy duties, or even increased the VAT etc on foreign products so that we have to pay three times than buying locally produced items.

Ghana is becoming a dumping site for finished products from any multinational businesses.

Why are we so gullible, happily consuming other country’s products and helping their economy when no one cares about ours accept give us foreign loans and aids?

How could we as Ghanaians, contribute to our own economy to enable it rise up to face the modern challenges?

Why can’t we challenge the past and rethinks of our buyer behaviours to move forward like any other proactive, aggressive country?

It is about time Ghana become more assertive, to let these multinational businesses know that we want to consume products that generate job creation in Ghana.

Ghana should by now have a policy to encourage all investors to produce their products in Ghana. We need to avoid those who come take natural resources out of the country only to make their kill outside Ghana. To add insult to injury by refusing our citizens visas when we want to explore the Western world.

Is this fair?
