Pay Slip Sends Worker To Hospital

Accra, Oct. 24, Lens --A worker of the Ghana Library Board, one Mr. Addae is currently undergoing treatment at the Cape Coast regional hospital after he fainted at the sight of his pay slip a couple of months ago.

Close associates and family members told this reporter that Mr. Addae, who had been expecting an increase in his salary following the announcement that the salaries of workers had been increased, went for his September pay slip, apparently expecting to see that his salary has swelled, but to his utter shock he discovered that his salary had rather been slashed. He fainted there and then and had to be rushed to the Cape Coast hospital for treatment.

Mr. Addae's case is reflective of the situation that workers of the Ghana Library Board find themselves in. Even though they have embarked on a number of strike actions to draw attention to their poor conditions of service and remuneration package, their actions went largely unheeded.
