The new dimension of ‘Ghana’s Most Beautiful’ launched

Ten gorgeous women representing the ten regions of Ghana have been unveiled as contestants of this year’s Ghana’s Most Beautiful dubbed ‘The New Dimension’.

A special launch held at Cape Coast's Victoria Park on Sunday, July 20 saw a rich display of Ghanaian culture with pomp and circumstance as chiefs and queen mothers from across the country converged at the Park.

In his welcome address, Paramount Chief of Cape Coast Traditional Area Osaabarima Kwesi Atta II congratulated management of TV3 Network Limited for using the electronic medium to raise awareness on the rich culture dotted across the country.

He said foreign television programmes have contributed to alienating the youth from their culture, a situation, he laments, does not augur well for the future of the country.

The Omanhen of Ogua Traditional Area insisted that without a conscious attempt to imbibe the culture and tradition, the youth may not know where to belong between African and Western cultures.

“We should safeguard the heritage handed down to us by our forefathers.”

He congratulated the contestants for availing themselves to learn about the rich Ghanaian culture.

“The next hurdle starts today. You should be proud of yourself and use this as a stepping stone for the future.”

Osaabarima Kwesi Atta II seized the opportunity to extend an invitation to all to join the chiefs and people of Cape Coast to mark half-a-century years of the Fetu Afahye.

Clean thinking

Chief Executive Officer of TV3 Network Limited Augustus Dickson, in launching Ghana's Most Beautiful VII, underscored the resolve of the station to preserve the nation’s norms and values.

He disclosed that the decision to launch 'The New Dimension' in Cape Coast was as a result of clean thinking.

He cited the forts and castles, the Kakum Park, the rich beaches and major events such as Panafest and Emancipation Day as evidence of the Central Region being a hub of Ghanaian culture.

He expressed gratitude to the custodians of the Region for granting the request of the station to launch the show in Cape Coast.

“We have invested heavily in bringing this show to reality,” Mr Dickson mentioned.

He called on viewers to support their favourite contestants by way of TXTing to keep them in the 13-week show.

Last year’s winner Lawrencia Ayapoka Anafo was present to express gratitude to TV3 and her fans. She wished the 2014 contestants well.
