A Woman of Steel starts on Viasat 1

Viasat 1 premieres the Mexican telenovela “A Woman of Steel”, on Wednesday 28 March 2012 at 3:00 PM GMT. The telenovela will begin transmission as a replacement of the Brazilian telenovela, “Seize the Day” which ends Tuesday 27 March at 3pm. “A Woman of Steel” tells the story of Valentina Villalba. Bereaved by the loss of both parents, Valentina inherits her family’s fortune and is joined by her cousin Ivana and Aunt Isabel to live in her Mexico City home.

Unbeknownst to her, Ivana harbors a deep resentment and jealousy for Valentina. Ivana begins an affair with Valentina’s fiancé Alonso, and they conspire to harm Valentina and take over her fortune. On their wedding day, Alonso leaves Valentina at the altar to runaway with Ivana. Valentina, hurt and humiliated escapes to her country villa where she meets wealthy landowner, Jose Miguel. Will she find love again?

‘A Woman of Steel’ is a telenovela that explores the human quest of jealousy, greed, hatred, overcoming hurt, and the redemption of the power of love.

A woman of Steel is Viasat 1’s seventh telenovela since launch in 2008. The channel has pioneered a new standard in day time television programming in the country since introducing Latin American telenovelas to daytime viewing as opposed to the pertaining prime time airing of the series.

A Woman of Steel premieres Wednesday 28 March 2012 at 3pm.

In addition the channel ends quarter 1 of 2012 with three other programs including the Ghanaian drama series Illusions which premieres Monday 26 March at 8:30pm; Nigerian series Wetin Dey which premieres Tuesday 27 March at 8:30pm and the cooking show Bon Apetit which premieres Saturday 31 March 2012 at 5pm. Viasat 1 is well on its way to increasing its local content by 30% by close of the year. Quarter 2 will see more Ghanaian produced shows on the channel.
