Mzbel Admits Dating Castro: ‘He Didn’t Invite Me To His Wedding’

‘Saucy Girl’ singer Mzbel (Nana Akua Amoah) has admitted that she was once dating hiplife artiste Castro de’ Destroyer (real name Theophilus Tagoe).

Mzbel who returned from USA on Thursday, September 23rd after attending a conference and holidaying in the States, revealed this on e-TV’s “Late Night Celebrity show”

The ‘Sixteen Years’ hit-maker was responding to a question sent via SMS by a viewer of the show, asking her if she has ever dated Castro. “Oh Yes! I have gone out with Castro before.” She answered. When the host, Sammy Forson, asked her how long the two dated, Mzbel said “well, we dated for a few months”.

Hiplife Grandpapa, Reggie Rockstone who was also on the show, looked surprised and asked Mzbel why they broke up, but Mzbel was a bit reluctant to disclose the reason for their separation. “Come on! You guys were one of the few celebrity couples in hiplife and you dated for a few months and that was it? Reggie asked. No, the two of you have to date again now that you are grownups”. Reggie suggested.

When Mzbel was asked if she was still in touch with Castro and whether they have plans of coming back together? Mzbel gave a straight forward answer, NO! But I know he is married now and he didn’t even invite me to his wedding. I hear it was a secret wedding. Nobody was invited to the wedding so, may be, that was why he didn’t invite me” she stressed.

Castro married his Canadian-based Ghanaian lover, Awura Abena, on Sunday 17th January 2010 in a low key private wedding ceremony, at the Roman Catholic Church at Akyem Swedru.

Sit-in host, Sammy Forson, asked Mzbel to talk about her love-life and when she was going to get married. She said her man is around the corner somewhere in town. “Yes there is always a rumour that I’m going to get married. Ghanaians want me to get married, I don’t know why but I will get married soon”.

When the host insisted on when she was going to get married, Mzbel said “Well, I will get married at some point but what I can tell you is, it is definitely not this year. I don’t know when but it will happen”. Nana Akua said December 26 is her birthday, and she intends to get married on her birthday date, but she is not sure of the year yet. Mzbel and Castro de’ Destroyer have done a couple of songs together during their happy days. She featured Castro on her Domestic Violence song “Sixteen years” and “Yopoo” on the same album, and subsequent songs including “E Dey Be”.

The two also joined forces in 2007 during the Easter celebration to dish quality Ghanaian Hiplife Music at the Easter Food Festival for the people of Akyem Kotoku along other hiplife artistes.

She has let the cat out of the bag on their relationship after holding on for very a long time but why and how did the celebrity couple split? According to information available to peacefmonline.com Mzbel and Castro De Destroyer who were seen in town on several occasions driving together in Mzbel’s car or in Castro’s then blue Toyota Rav4, and also seen performing together both in Ghana and abroad, are no longer the good friends they used to be.
