Gospel artiste Sonnie Badu to perform at National Theatre

Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - Gospel artiste Sonnie Badu would perform at the National Theatre in Accra on Saturday, November 7, organisers said. Courtesy of Orange Africa, an event management company, the gospel artiste would perform with other local gospel musicians would perform to the delight of his teeming fans and gospel music.

Addressing journalists on Wednesday Sonnie Badu, winner of the Best Gospel Act 2009 at the recently held Black Entertainment Films, Fashion and Television Awards (BEFFTA) in the United Kingdom, said the time had come for Ghana to experience the goodness and God through true worship. He said he was optimistic of collaboration with other local gospel artistes and urged them to make Ghanaian gospel music popular by aiming at getting unto the international market.

Badu, born in the UK and raised in Ghana, praised God for the award and said he had again been nominated for three more gospel awards in Italy. Mrs Ann Agyare, Creativity Manager of Orange Africa, said her outfit's decision to bring Badu into the country stemmed from the fact that the time had come for Ghana to celebrate its citizens who were making the nation proud.

"Minister Sonnie Badu is Ghana's very own golden treasure and the winner of the best Gospel Act 2009. He is also the proud winner of the Best Gospel Act of the year and a man who stands on the same platform with international gospel greats like Alvin Slaughter, Ron Kenoly and Donnie McClurkin," she said.

According to her, the concert would be used to raise funds for the Trinity Baptist Church Orphanage with which Badu was sponsoring the education of 15 children and Little Angels orphanage located at Nsawam. Other local artistes who would perform with Badu include Nii Okai, Danny Nettey, Soul Winners, Celestine Donkor and Joe Beecham. 4 Nov. 09
