Power is not profane – Nana Quame

No doubt Nana Quame's latest "Power" hit track is definitely a fresh sound that will spice your listening pleasure and possibly keep you standing on your dancing feet. As several Ghanaians could not contain falling in love with the lyrics that promises much lessons for singles, some others have been warped on the erroneous notion that *Power* is profane.

The music king whose track record with six albums since 1996, rolled into the studio of *Happy 98.9 Fm* at Asylum Down (Accra) during 'Ayekoo' the smoothest drive on radio with the Entertainment Minister Mikki Osei Berko, for elaborate clarifications about *Power.*

*Power* which is enjoying massive airplay stems from Nana Quame's personal experience in the music industry where he has enjoyed unequalled fame.

"A lot of people come into one's life especially when you're popular. I've had different people come into my life with myriad motives.

"Power tells a story about my personal life. For instance sometimes you realise that even the credit you've bought for her would not be used to call you. She may just flash you and that's it" he confessed calmly.

*"Power's *chorus goes thus 'Wudi neho agoro aa, obedi wu ewu' (she will hurt you if you're not careful) and not 'obedi wu' (fuck you)" he explained. Bollie who accompanied Nana Quame to the studio and also featured on the track simply said "Watch out! Power is not profane as you can hear. It has a good storyline with lessons for budding single brothers in relationships. Just watch your back; some girls do not come to you for real love but…"

The *Atea Adonko* singer's latest album is a 15-track piece on CD and 8 tracks on cassette featuring K. K. Fosu, Bollie, Snooky, Nana Antwi, and Nana Batie. It was recorded at Universal Entertainment in Accra .

He has a noble plan up his sleeves for this new album. Together with the management of Universal Entertainment, Nana Quame will embark on a nationwide tour next year to raise funds to construct 10 boreholes for ten rural communities in the country. He admits that most villages where most of our food items come from are being neglected; hence, he hopes via the borehole project thousands of Ghanaians will have access to clean drinking water.

He has slated a peace concert for the forthcoming 2008 presidential election in December with some Jamaican artistes. After the nationwide tour, Nana Quame will proceed on Africa , American and European tours respectively. He has won four awards including original song of the year, male vocalist of the year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2002 and 2003. Having performed in 17 states in the United States and other performances in the United Kingdom , the Netherlands , Canada and Germany , Nana Quame almost quit his singing career because of piracy in the country. He has also recorded some English R&B songs which would be out soon.

His first album "Y'Ate", was recorded by Kojo Antwi, "Odo Shock" was his next appearance and was under Slip Music Productions by Mark Okraku-Mante. "Awo De Me", under his own NQ Record Label became his third release. The fourth album also under NQ was dubbed, "Atea Adonko" and the fifth "Soja".
