Actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson has taken to her social media, to lambaste people who have criticized veteran actor Kofi Ajorlolo, after the latter took to the media to attack some producers for not paying him after working for them.
Kofi Ajorlolo in an interview with Joy Prime, angrily accused movie producers of not paying him for movies he has shot with them. Mr Ajorlolo said about seven movie producers owed him money.
He said: “Some of the producers in Ghana here, they should respect themselves...old man like me, they call me to come and work and they can't pay me.
“About seven producers in this country owe me monies…why? And then I’m sitting at home, I'm hungry, and then when I’m sick too nobody pays attention...Look we have elderly people lying down on their sickbeds and these producers owe them. Actors in Ghana here know what I’m talking about, these producers don’t pay!"
Kofi Ajorlolo’s outburst didn’t sit well with Film Producers Association of Ghana, FIPAG. According to the president of the association, James Aboagye, Kofi Ajorlolo failed to use the internal structures available to him and rather chose to complain to the media. They have given him fourteen days to apologise.
“You’ve not reported to Actors Guild nor FIPAG, neither did you mention names… Then at the end of the day, you come out to make unnecessary complaints and saying negative things.
“He should have mentioned names to solidify his point. Make your claims concrete, come with evidence so we know how to solve it instead of making wild allegations. Who told you up and coming acts are not paid? Who told you? Have you spoken with any of the artistes? It’s in bad taste,” Mr. Aboagye fumed.
It is on the back of this ultimatum that Yvonne Nelson has warned FIPAG to leave Kofi Ajorlolo alone or she will call out the producers who owe actors.
According to the actress, Kofi Ajorlolo spoke his truth, and that was the truth about the industry. She advised those attacking him to rather tell their side of the story instead of attacking the actor for speaking his truth.
She dared anyone who has intentions of attacking Kofi Ajorlolo, that she would mention names of the producers who indeed owe actors.
She tweeted, “Kofi Adjorlolo spoke his truth! Which sadly is our INDUSTRY’s truth....no one can lie about it! You can say yours too, dont undermine his! Love you Kofi”
“They shouldnt get me started! If i hear anyone attacking Kofi again eeeh, I dont want to open that 2010 book! I dont wanna start! I will mention all the names, the demons in that era tried me! But God had better plans for His daughter”
