GoldFields pays million dollar dividend to govt

Accra March 13, GNA - Government has received one million dollars as dividend from the Gold Fields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa Gold Mining Cmpany.

Mr Ezan, Executive Director of the Company's address copied to the Ghana News Agency said the amount accounted for government's 10 percent shares for the year 2001/2002.

He assured government of the company's commitment to honour its obligations to the country and also to the community in which it operates.

Mr Ezan expressed the hope that the government would be supportive of the company at all times to enable it to operate in an atmosphere of tranquillity.

Mrs Cecilia Bannerman, Mines Minister, received a cheque for the amount on behalf of government.
