Transport union unveils new buses

The Diplomates Royal Transport, operating at the Elubo border in the Western Region over the weekend Unveiled Five New Buses to enhance its operations.

This brings to 10, its fleet of vehicles.

The unveiling was done by the Jomoro District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr.Sylvester Nuomah Daddieh, at a ceremony held at the Company's terminal at Elubo.

In his keynote address, the DCE said the District cannot develop without the contribution of the private sector or Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and invited more companies to invest in the area.

Mr. Daddieh commended the Management of Diplomates Royal Transport for its initiative, which has created employment for some people in the area and urged them to recruit good calibre of people to work at their lorry park.

He urged the company to ensure safety of passengers and advised the drivers to be faithful to their passengers.

The DCE said armed robbery attacks on the Elubo highway is now a thing of the past and thanked the security services in the area for their vigilance and dedication, which has improved security in the District.

In his welcome address earlier, Mr.Samuel Incoom, the Director of the Company, said Diplomates Royal Transport has been in operation at Elubo for the past three years without a terminal but has now acquired one to enhance its work.

He said the buses will be plying from Elubo to Aflao, Accra, and Kumasi, and will soon open a station at Takoradi.

Mr. Incoom reiterated that Government alone cannot provide the needs of Ghanaians, hence the need for the private sector's involvement and urged all and sundry to see themselves as important allies in National Development and contribute their quota accordingly.

He thanked Management of CAL Bank, Takoradi, for sponsorship the Company to increase its fleet of buses at Elubo.

Mr. George Karikari, Chairman of the Union, said the Company has emerged to provide comfort to travellers and called for their patronage.

He said the company was formed from the defunct Cooperative Transport at Elubo, which has brought market competition and value for money.

Mr. Moses Ando, the immediate past Assemblyman for Elubo, who chaired the ceremony, said the private sector was the engine of growth and should be promoted accordingly.

He urged management of Diplomates Royal Transport to let faithfulness, reliability and safeguarding be its guarding principles in its operations.
