Spio-Garbrah calls for collaboration among agencies

Dr Ekow Spio-Garbrah, the Minister of Trade and Industry, on Thursday called for effective inter-agency collaboration to ensure that the Ministry worked to meet the meet government’s strategic and development plans.

He said his outfit was committed to fashion out effective modalities to mobilize funds to support programmes of the agencies under the Ministry to meet its objectives.

Dr Spio-Garbrah said this at a forum with heads of agencies under the Ministry to chart the way forward in meeting government strategic policies and development.

He said President John Dramani Mahama has urged the Ministry to promote the use of Made-in-Ghana products and that it was the responsibility of all the agencies to come on board and support the initiatives in creating employment and boosting the economy.

Dr Spio-Garbrah pledged to organize monthly forum for the agencies to discuss progress and challenges of each agency and fashion out strategies best solutions to the problems.

He said the forum was timely especially Ghana’s discussion with the International Monetary Fund as well as the role of the Ministry in creating opportunities for improving and strengthening the manufacturing sector and expanding the export sector.

Dr Spio-Garbrah noted that there is the need for restructuring process of the economy to make it more resilient.

He spoke about foreigners invading the retail trade sector and said Ghana’s laws did not permit it.

The heads of the agencies have pledged their unflinching support and commitment to the Ministry to meet government strategic and development plans.
