Agona West set to achieve IGF target

The Agona West Municipal Assembly realised a half-year revenue of GH¢632,464 against the projected annual target of GH¢1,073,323 in Internally Generated Funds (IGF).

Mr Samuel Oppong, Agona West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), who announced this at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Assembly, at Agona Swedru, said the revenue represented 58.93 per cent of their projection.

“This shows that we are on track to achieve our target for the year by November this year,” he said.

Mr Oppong said the Assembly had also received GH¢ 247, 459.89 as its share of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF).

In total, the Assembly received GH¢1,002,433 in 2013, he said.

So far, the MCE said GH¢ 980,928.21 had been spent on nine development projects in the Municipality.

The projects are aimed at improving education, health, roads, sanitation, and other sectors, to enhance their wellbeing.

The MCE said the Assembly had made significant progress in meeting President Mahama’s deadline on the Street-Naming and Property Address Exercise.

He said 17 basic schools with 5,604 pupils in the Municipality were benefiting from the Ghana School Feeding Programme.

The MCE, however, said the major challenge confronting the programme was the delay in releasing the feeding grant to the caterers.
