Takoradi Sector of CEPS exceeds target for import duties

Takoradi Jan.21, GNA - The Takoradi Sector of the Customs, Excise and Preventive Service (CEPS), collected import duties of 90,187,485 Ghana Cedis last year as against a target of 78,660,000 Ghana Cedis, Mr. Anthony Sewor, the outgoing sector commander, announced on Tuesday. He was speaking at the 2008 Excellence Awards ceremony of the sector at Takoradi.

Mr. Sewor said in the petroleum sector, 28,788,449 Ghana Cedis was collected as duties as against a target of 42,640,000 Ghana Cedis. He said so far this year, the sector had collected 11 million Ghana Cedis as duties.

Mr. Sewor said 2008 was a very challenging year for the sector but despite all the difficulties, the revenue performance was impressive. Mrs Rebecca Forson was adjudged the overall best senior worker of the sector for 2008 and Mr. John Senyo Agbo, the overall best junior worker.
