New US officers upbeat about work in Ghana

Two new United States (US) staff at the embassy in Accra, Ms Sara Veldhuizen Stealy (Press Attaché) and Malore Brown (Information Resource Officer) have expressed their preparedness to work in collaboration with Ghanaians to achieve the objectives of both countries.

The two officers, who are taking up their new posts here in Accra, said they were impressed with the hospitality of the Ghanaian people, and were hopeful of enjoying their stay to the fullest.

The embassy staff made these remarks during a reception held last Thursday at the residence of the US Envoy in Accra.

Ms Stealy is taking over from Ms Jean Clarke, who left the shores of the country this year after completing her work, while Steve Perry, former Information Resource Officer at the embassy, has handed over to Ms Malore Brown.

“I’m looking forward to working with you in the next three years and continuing our wonderful partnership. I’m very excited to start working with you all,” Ms Brown told her audience, made up of representatives of government agencies, private sector players and the media.

Recounting her experience while travelling along the countryside in Ghana, Ms Brown said she found Ghanaians as very warm and the different languages quite intriguing.

According to her, she undertook some research into which country in Africa had English as its main communication tool, and Ghana was the answer, adding that she had no regrets choosing to visit Ghana over other African countries.

New Press Attaché at the embassy, Ms Stealy said she was thrilled by the drama on social media in Ghana, noting that, “I see there’s a lot happening on Twitter and a vibrant educational front in Ghana.

“I foresee a wonderful experience of working together in the coming years and I pledge my collaboration and co-operation,” she ended.
