Ghanaians in diaspora advised to register

.... with the missions




Mr. R.Harry Reynolds, head of information at Ghana Mission in New York, USA, has advised Ghanaians living in foreign countries to register with the missions.



According to him, such registration will help the missions in foreign countries to identify Ghanaians and provide them with necessary consular services as much as possible.



Mr. R.Harry Reynolds, gave the advice when addressing chiefs and people of Okuapemman Association of U.S.A and Canada, [OKUSACA] at their recent Odwira/Ohum festival held at Newark, New Jersey-USA.



This year’s Owira/Ohum festival was under the theme,” Youth Empowerment, OKUSACA’S Future” and Mr. Harry Reynolds was speaking on behalf of Ghana’s Permanent Representative to the UN. Mr. Ken Kanda.



He said,” the Ghana mission will like to take the opportunity to advice all Ghanaians abroad to register with the missions, so that in times of difficulty we can give the necessary consular service”.



The information expert explained that the government of Ghana established the missions basically to cater for the interest and welfare of the citizens, among others, therefore encouraging Ghanaians to contact them for help, information on business and investment opportunities and travel advice.

Mr. R.Harry Reynolds, stated that the mission was proud of the contributions of Ghanaians living in foreign destinations and wants them to continue doing their best in whatever business they find themselves in.

He urged Ghanaians living in America and other foreign countries to always be law abiding so that they can continue to enjoy the warm hospitality of their host countries.



Whilst at this, he told Ghanaians in the diaspora not to forget to support their unfortunate brothers and sisters back home and should also never forget to give their widows mite to support development activities there be it a clinic or, provision of water, school or supporting an orphanage.



Accordingly, such worthy contributions will always go a long way to bring smiles onto the faces of the poor and less fortunate ones in the Ghanaian society.



Mr. Emanuel Kwame Gyan, national chairman of OKUSACA, noted that the association is a cultural and non political organization which aims at fostering unity among all Akuapems and Asuogya descent resident in United States of America and Canada.



He observed that there would be no sustainable developments in Akuapem without unity, peace and tranquility in their communities as the association executives have lived by example by creating peaceful, equitable and compassionate organization by unifying Akuapems and other ethnic groups.
