AGPI Calling

Fellow Ghanaian,

The secretariat would like to inform you that the 2nd Annual Inter-Medical
School Public Speaking Competition to promote psychiatry as a fulfilling
career option for Ghanaian medical students would take place on Monday the 5
th of December 2011 at the main auditorium of the Ghana College of
Physicians and Surgeons in Accra from 12 noon to 3pm. The event would be
broadcast live on GTV.

In the morning before the debate, the Chairperson of AGPI, Dr Agyapong
would be on GVT Breakfast show with the Director of Clinical Services of St
Patrick’s University Hospital, to share their thoughts on how best to
tackle the numerous challenges confronting Mental Health Service Delivery
in Ghana. As you are aware, Ghana with a population of about 24 million
people have only 12 Psychiatrists of whom about half are retired and
working on contract.

The secretariat would like to encourage all Ghanaians in diaspora to inform
their relatives in Ghana about these two very important events on Monday so
that they could make a date with the AGPI on GTV and educate themselves
about the state of Ghana’s Mental Health Delivery System.

Thanks
