Columbia University to Host Kumasi Investment Day

Professor Jeffrey Sachs of the Earth Institute at Columbia University is well known around the world for his singular commitment to eliminate poverty from the world. Many scholars write about development, few go further to implement initiatives that actually improve people’s lives.

Prof Jeff Sachs does his share of the articles and books and then goes on the road to adopt villages around the world to accelerate their development and transition them from poverty.

The Professor’s aim is to drive resources to the villages while the inhabitants are trained to make decisions in resource allocation and creative ownership. The success of the model villages has led Professor Sachs and his team to launch the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI). It is an upscale version of the model village concept. Kumasi is fortunate to be one of the cities selected for the MCI.

On Monday September 29, 2008 from 8:00 am to 5:00pm, there will be a conference to launch the Kumasi Investment Day in the USA , after a successful launch in Kumasi earlier this year.
