Ghana MoneyGram Agents Visit Ghanaians in Five Cities; Ghana Network Expansion Provides More Choices for Consumers

Minneapolis, Minn. (July 23, 2008) ? MoneyGram International will tour five cities in seven days with executives from MoneyGram's newest agent banks in Ghana. In the last year, four Ghana banks have become MoneyGram agents and have increased locations across the country sixfold, providing more choices for customers to receive funds close to home.
Participating in the tour are Merchant Bank, First Atlantic Bank and United Bank for Africa. The tour begins in Chicago on July 26 and travels to Toronto, Atlanta, Washington, D.C. and concludes in New York on Aug. 1.

The banks' executives, who are accompanied by MoneyGram executives during the tour, are also attending community events such as the Annual Ghanafest in Chicago. They also expect to visit some of the local MoneyGram agents serving Ghanaians in many of the cities.

The Ghana bank leaders are coming to talk to local community leaders, introduce themselves, and their individual services. During the tour, MoneyGram will host town hall meetings for the agents and customers that rely on money transfer to Ghana.

"Each of these banks offers services that appeal to Ghanaian immigrants," explained Beryl Opondo, North America senior marketing manager for Africa markets. "The locations operated by these banks include MoneyGram Red Shops dedicated to MoneyGram services operated by United Bank of Africa and convenient services in Ghana Telecom 'Care 4U' centers operated by First Atlantic Bank that provides money transfer service outside a bank environment. Also, Merchant Bank offers Saturday hours at select locations. Along with our other Ghana agents, Ghana Commercial Bank and SG-SSB, these agent banks provide great convenience for Ghanaian's receiving funds."
