“Resource the Electoral Commission”- New Year message by NDC Virginia Branch

A branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the State of Virginia (US) under the chairmanship of Oheneba Aboagye Damte, in a new year message press release has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) led Government of Ghana to resource the Electoral Commission to enable it operate effectively without any problem of logistics during the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December. The branch believes it is very crucial that the EC is well resourced to discharge its duties in a free and fair manner to the admiration of all contesting parties in this year’s and all other general elections in the future. This statement which was issued during the end of year executive meeting of the branch held in Alexandria-Virginia also appealed to the government to ensure that international observers are invited to witness the elections.

The branch wished the flag bearer of the NDC, Prof. Evans John Atta Mills well in his campaign trails and assured him of the support of the branch. The branch also appealed to all aggrieved NDC members to bury their differences and rally behind the party for a sweet and total victory during the 2008 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The release also congratulated Dr. Edward Nasigre Mahama of PNC, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom of CPP and then Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo of the NPP for going through successful congresses to have them elected as the flag bearers of their respective parties. The branch therefore welcomes all the candidates to the presidential race, but assured them that at the end of the polls the humble and learned Professor, John Evans Atta Mills will emerge victorious as the next president of the Republic of Ghana.

The message finally charged the members of the NDC to intensify their crusade of winning more souls for the party and that their campaigns should be devoid of insults.
