International Conference of NPP

The first International Conference of New Patriotic Party branches outside Ghana will be held on the 4th of November this year in London.

The conference which will bring together over one thousand members of the party from Canada, the US, New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, United Kingdom and others from six European countries including Germany, The Netherlands, Sweden among others would last for three days.

The UK and Ireland branch Chairman of the NPP, Mr Atta-Krufi made the disclosure, at a special meeting held in London to discuss the event at which an official invitation was extended to the national chairman of the party, Mr. Mac Manu as one of the main speakers.

Mr. Atta-Krufi hinted that high ranking political figures in Ghana and the UK will grace the occasion which will look at addressing pertinent issues concerning the party.

Mr. Atta-Krufi said the conference will explore all avenues to vigorously mobilise all available human and material recourses to ensure a massive and effective membership drive outside Ghana to make the party more formidable than ever, adding that there was the need to sensitise the overseas branches about issues affecting the party and the country as a whole.

The UK and Ireland branch chairman of the NPP observed that after the conference, measures would be put in place to ensure the reactivation of the Party?s International Desk at the national headquarters and made a firm request to the National Chairman to help sustain it to ensure an effective collaboration of the Diasporan and home activities of the party.

He observed that there was the need for the NPP to avoid complacency and go all out to win the next general elections to ensure solid continuity of good governance and development started by the party.

Mr Mac Manu thanked the UK group for that request and assured them that there was a general consensus among his newly elected team of the urgent need to get the Desk running. He said that the Chicago and Botswana have already made representations to his executives about the Desk and that there was the need for the Diasporan Party to work together to support the running of the Desk

He also said under his new administration, general party organisation has been intensified on all fronts and as his newly elected National Executive Officers have already met the Parliamentary party and the Regional officers at the National Executive meeting amongst others to help look at various ways of building and financing the party at regional level.

?I have tasked Regional officers and Chairmen to take full ownership of party organisation and funding the party at regional levels?. Mr Manu noted.

These meetings, he said, would be a regular feature on his new team?s calendar to ensure that there was co-ordination and cohesion between all levels of the party under his administration.

Mr Manu informed the UK branch that he has also advised party caucus in parliament, District Chief Executives and Polling Station Chairmen to meet at least once a quarter as stipulated in the party?s constitution to discuss problems affecting their respective local parties and find ways of strengthening Constituency Executive Committee meetings.

?With this, together with what you are doing here in the Diaspora the party would not have only a strong base, but more importantly would develop relevant international links to ensure that we deliver for the people who have given us the mandate?. The national chairman noted.

The Chairman was joined at the meeting by Hon Kobina Tahir Hammond, MP for Adansi Asokwa and Deputy Minister of Energy among other party and government officials.
