Tribute to the late Edward Osei Tutu of New York

Edward Osei Tutu was born on February 10, 1954 to Madam Yaa Tawiah and Nana Osei Tutu and in his early life, Edward showed a desire to go to school and so his parents did not hesitate to give him the benefit of formal education. He was enrolled at the Boamang Local Authority School for his elementary education which lasted from 1960 to 1970, he got the support from his parents and earned admission to the  Osei Kyeretwie Secondary School (OKESS) in the year 1970 to pursue high school education.

     While he was @ OKESS ,he honed his talent as a sprinter and got selected into the  school's athletic team by running the 100 and the 200 meters with distinction.  OKESS ranked then and now as one of the best schools in Ghana in terms of sports, and Edward did excel in athletics, there is a testimony to his sprinting ability and no wonder ,he was selected into the Ghana National Athletics Team.

           After his secondary education in 1975,he was employed by the National Sports Council that same year, Edward worked there until 1979 and he traveled to then West Germany to seek greener pastures. Edward spent 8 years in Europe and e returned to Ghana in 1987 to join hands with his brother Mr. Daniel Addo,the proprietor of "Menaba Stores" @ Abossey Okay, Accra to help him to run his business.

        In the year 1990, Edward left Ghana again, this time to the USA and he got employed by the Mount Sinai Hospital and he worked there for over 12 years before leaving to join the Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn. He remained as a staff of that hospital until his sudden death. Edward was a member of the Ghana Methodist Church @ the Bronx.

        Edward's kindness was an evidenced by his willingness and readiness to drive back home ,after church services, his fellow parishioners of the Ghana Methodist Church in the Bronx, who didn't have their own personal means of transport. Even when his health was  undermined by bouts of illness, he continued to perform this task religiously, inspiring those who know his health challenge, by his courage and is faith in a better tomorrow.

         He was a good parent and responsible family man and in his desire not to fail in his duty as a responsible parent, Edward combined photography with his work at the various hospitals where he was employed such as M. Sinai and Brookdale. His intentions were to earn supplementary income to able to cater well for his children and other family members who looked up to him for support.

       " It is tragedy that such a good man should succumb to death at the prime age of 54 and to our little human minds, it seems unfair that we should lose a man such immense potential, but we should remember that in his wisdom, God can dry up the green tree like Edward Osei Tutu and make the dry tree to flourish"

        " At such trying time in a moment of grief, it is only natural to feel sad and sometimes and even biter at Providence, but we can't question the judgment of God. For those of us who profess faith in the Lord God  as OseI Tutu did, we should be consoled by the fact that our Lord is the  Resurrection and the life"

           '" We should be consoled that our brother,father,uncle,nephew,friend colleague and neighbor will raised from the dead on the resurrection day never again to die, we should console that one day in the sweet by and by, we shall meet our dear one on that beautiful shore and we will hold on to the faith that kept Edward Osei Tutu.
