Press Release: Change of Venue

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Germany wishes to inform all party supporters, sympathisers and the general public that the venue for the fundraising event scheduled for Saturday 16 May 2015 in Dusseldorf has now been moved to Cologne near Dusseldorf. The address for the new venue is Sport Centre Bushido, Sechtemer Strasse 5, 50988, Cologne.
The change of venue has become necessary to accommodate the large numbers of Ghanaians not just from Germany but from across mainland Europe who are eagerly yearning to meet the Leader and Flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo.
It should be pointed out that venue earlier booked for the event in Dusseldorf had a sitting capacity of just 600 but the requests for the reservation of seats in the last two weeks alone is more than double the available places. This, undoubtedly, underscores the immense interest and euphoria that this visit has generated among Ghanaians in Europe.
In responding to the overwhelming interest and importance of the Flag bearer’s visit, the leadership of NPP-Germany deemed it proper and prudent to make alternative arrangements for a bigger venue to enable as many people as possible to be part of this historic event.
It is equally important to stress that NPP-Germany was guided by the legal regime governing the organisation of events in the European Union (Health and Safety Directive 89/391 EEC) According to this Directive event organisers are enjoined to adhere strictly to the siting capacity of venues and a violation of this capacity requirement constitutes a serious breach of the directive and thus attracts a penalty. As law abiding members of society and a party that believes in the rule of law we had no choice but to move the event to Cologne to avoid falling foul with the Law.
Finally, we wish to assure all NPP supporters and sympathisers alike, that these minor changes have been effected in the best interest of the party. As organisers of this event we have a duty to plan , manage and to ensure that party supporters as well as the visiting public are not exposed to unnecessary health and safety risk
