Nkrumah Evoked in Cuba

Havana, Mar 6 (Prensa Latina) Ghana's first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, was remembered in Havana on Tuesday in the framework of the 50th anniversary of Ghanaian independence (January 6, 1957).

Ghana Ambassador to Cuba Cecilia Gyan Amoah highlighted the validity of his Pan-African ideas and explained that Nkrumah's work contributed to raising the consciousness of black people, particularly Africans.

Nkruman was a great leader with a forward-looking approach and a politician for all times, the diplomat emphasized, at the ceremony held in Havana's African National Heroes Park.

"He encouraged us to feel proud of our identity and fight all forms of imperialism", added Gyan.

The ceremony was attended by Rodolfo Puente Ferro, president of the Cuba-Africa Friendship Association, Sergio Corrieri, President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, diplomats and Ghanaian students.
