Nkrumah Educational Fund To Be Launched At Ghana Embassy

The Nzema Association of Washington, DC will on Friday, August 29, this year, officially launch the Kwame Nkrumah Educational Trust Fund at the Chancery of the Embassy of Ghana.

The Association will also mark the celebration of the 5th Annual Kundum (Abissa) festival, a day after the launching at Gaithersburg, Maryland.

The ceremony themed “Education: The Key To Our Development” is aimed at raising funds to assist the Children of the Nzema traditional area as well as serve as a complement to the government’s efforts in providing education to the area.

Additionally, part of the proceeds from the fund, which will be channeled into investments, will also be used to create incentive packages to attract and retain teachers in the area.

The fund, in honor of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, First President of Ghana will be managed by an 11-member Board of Trustees.

In attendance at the ceremony will be the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honorable Freddie Blay, Mrs. Edith Hazel, Minister for Parliament, Evalue Gwira, among other dignitaries.

According to the President of the Association, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Buah, this year’s festival is expected to attract a large crowd, and will run with activities throughout the weekend.

He said to climax the occasion, there will be live performance by renowned musician, Jewel Ackah and the Ozimzim International Band as well as a fashion show.
