President of Groupe Nduom (GN), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, has highlighted the importance of the public sector to the success of the private sector, stressing that it is only through the public sector that entrepreneurs would succeed in Ghana.

According to Dr. Nduom, it is virtually impossible to bypass the public sector in any business endeavour in the country.

He was speaking from the United States of America (USA) via a Google Hangout to a Ghanaian audience at the Alisa Hotel in Accra yesterday at the ‘Entrepreneurs Solutions Summit’ organised by Groupe Nduom.

The business magnate pointed out that registration of companies, licenses to operate any venture into the private sector among others were all issued by the public sector.

He, therefore, noted that an improved public sector could oil the wheel of private entrepreneurship since such positive developments in the public sector could rob off the private sector.

Besides the business environment, Dr. Nduom identified how the entrepreneur’s personal life and conduct could impact on the success or otherwise of the business venture.

According to him, he has succeeded as an entrepreneur partly because of his faith and strong family values.

He said through the application of his Catholic faith, he would not do anything that would go against the establishment of a proper and genuine business.

He stated that often there was the temptation to cut corners in business, but he stressed that, that was against his faith.

Touching on family values, Dr. Nduom explained that he cherished the family and by extending those values to the larger society, he would be able to apply same for the betterment of society.

The chairman of GN also underscored the need to continuously innovate in order to survive the difficult business environment in Ghana.

Other speakers at the event were the co-founder and Executive Chairman of Data Bank, Ken Ofori Atta, and the Chief Executive Officer of UT Bank, Prince Kofi Amoabeng.
