NPP-USA plans a big 'Kukrudu' in Dallas

The general election for the President of Ghana is not until December 2008. Though there are more than two political parties in Ghana, most of the electorate will concentrate on the candidates of two of them– the NPP and the NDC. In April 2007, NDC nominated their candidate, Prof. John Atta Mills (that is right- the same one who has tried twice already to be President of Ghana and failed each time). To hear people talk, the real race is the one in-house; the one that will take place on December 22, 2007 in Accra; the one that will nominate the NPP Candidate, also to be known as the NPP Flagbearer. No less than seventeen people have raised their hands and want to be called to take the well-worn baton from NPP’s President H.E. John A. Kufuor.

Before we blink, Thanksgiving will be here and we shall be shopping for Christmas. NPP-USA is starting early with its Christmas shopping. The NPP branch in USA is getting ready to give Ghana a big present- a sneak preview of who the NPP Flagbearer will be. How about Christmas in October? On October 20th, NPP-USA will hold its Congress in Dallas, Texas and all the seventeen NPP 2008 Aspirants have been invited plus the party’s big wigs in Ghana, such as Chairman Mac Manu and General Secretary Nana Ohene Ntow. It is going to be a big “Kukrudu!” in Dallas.

Proceedings will start early in the morning on Saturday October 20 with the delegates’ conference. It will be followed by an evening dinner/dance program where all the NPP Presidential Aspirants will be featured and will each make an address. Does any one know who will win the NPP nomination three months from now? Come and take a peek. Does anyone have a question to ask? Come and raise your own hand. Does anyone want to be noticed? Dress up and show up. Does anyone want their ideas for a better Ghana to go on record? Come to the NPP-USA Delegates Conference. All events will take place at the Marriot Hotel- DFW at 8440 Freeport Pkw in Irving, Texas. Call the hotel for your reservation (800-228-9290 and mention NPP-USA for the $99/ night double occupancy rate). Visit http://www.nppusa.org for more details and print a flyer to share with your friends. This is the first time the 2008 NPP Presidential Aspirants will be on the same stage. This is history. Be part of it. One of them will be President of Ghana in January 2009. Be able to say you saw and heard him before the first vote was even cast. It is going to be a big “Kukrudu!” in Dallas.

If you are traveling, plan to arrive on Friday, October 19th and leave on Sunday October 21st. Contact 1 800-747-9196 and mention NPP-USA for a special domestic travel discount by September 30, 2007.The event will be telecast and shown on Ghana TV. The media will carry it and it will definitely influence the Ghana NPP Delegate Congress scheduled for December 22, 2007. It is going to be a big “Kukrudu!” in Dallas, Texas.

In August, NDC’s former President H.E. JJ Rawlings and his wife attended a fund-raising event in Houston, also in Texas and claimed to have raised $700,000 from the 50 people who attended.
