More Ministers to Attend Ghanafest 07 in Chicago

Nana Obiri-Boahen, the newly nominated Minister of State at the Ministry of Interior, is the latest honorary guest expected to attend Ghanafest07 in Chicago on July 28 2007. If Nana Obiri-Boahen successfully clears his vetting by Parliament early this week, he will be the third minister to attend the largest and most spectacular African festival in the diaspora, the Chicago Ghanafest!

Other Ministers of state already on their way to Ghanafest07 includes, Honorable Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, MP for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem constituency and Minister for Public Rector Reform; and Honorable Mr. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Minister of the Brong-Ahafo Region of Ghana.

Reports reaching Ghana Home Page indicates that Mr. Prince Osei Bonsu, PRO of NPP North America and a freelance Journalist, is on his way to Ghanafest07 in Chicago. Prince has been assisting the Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago since last year when he made it possible for the Minister of Chieftaincy and Culture, Honorable S.K.Boafo, attend the festival.

As expected,Mr. CNN, will be a special Ghanaweb photo-journalist at the festival. Other media that confirmed their participation are Africast T.V network, and The African Spectrum Newspaper headed by "The Journalist" Berko Akoto.

Ghanaweb have learnt that both the Adowa and Borborbor groups are rehearsing new Ghanaian cultural dances to entertain the expected large crowd this year. Members of the musician Union of Ghana are also feverishly preparing for a big comeback at Ghanafest. Sam Gansah, Dan Boadi, Joe Atso, Nii Armanor, (the keyboard wizard) and other members of the group are very upbeat on their performance this year. Meanwhile,lovers of Gospel Music will be treated to live gospel fiesta as Nat Awuni, Aziza, Diana Akiwumi, Stella Dugan and Davis Wiafe are gearing up for their first group performance at the festival. They have vowed to roar the crowd in Chicago with their marvelous dances and beautiful voices. It will be a show reserved for the early birds since their performance is scheduled to come off at the early stages of the program.

The renown Ghanaian Kente weaver, Mr. Asare Kweku, is feverishly tuning his loom and arranging long lines of thread to thrill Chicagoans with a live kente weaving at the festival. For a few dollars, you may have the chance to try your hands on the loom! You cannot miss out on this! Meanwhile, the organizers of Ghanafest, the strong and hard working Ghana National Council of Metropolitan Chicago, GNC, have announced that the festival will start at 2 PM prompt.
