Kwhauman Association meets in Germany

The members of Kwhauman Association from Holland, Switzerland, London, Paris, Belgium and United States will meet this Saturday, May 10th, in Germany to deliberate on issues affecting the Traditional Area and also use the occasion to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Hamburg branch of Kwahu Citizens Abroad. This is a follow up event of last year's launching of Kwahu Citizens Abroad by President Kuffour at Abetifi-Kwahu during the Kwahu Citizens 2007 Easter Homecoming durbar. This is part of an effort to unite all Kwahu Associations for a common purpose and to embark on a common project at a time; urged Mr. Frederick Ansong-Dwamena, the Secretary of Kwhauman Association of New York, Inc.

Speaking to Ms. Comfort Asiama Reindt, the President of Hamburg Association, she confirmed the occasion and called it a "Historic moment for Kwahu Citizens Abroad". The occasion, she said, will also be used to raise fund towards Tomo-ni Orphanage Home at Kwahu Obomeng which is in a deplorable stage. Speaking on behalf of the Association, Ms Asiama said every Euro that will be raised during the event will go to support the home and also continue the work already started by Kwahuman Association from Holland.

The Home is situated on 460-acre land at Kwahu Obomeng and became operational in 1997 after a license was granted by the Department of Social Welfare and its allied agencies. It initially started with 8 children but now accommodates over 26 children from different backgrounds and ethnic groups. The Founder, Garald Besser and a German National, after searching thoroughly in both Asia and Africa, decided to establish the home at Obomeng-Kwahu in the Eastern region of Ghana. The decision to site the home at Obomeng was partly influenced by the favorable weather condition and the central deposition between the cities of Accra and Kumasi where naturally, urbanization children could be displaced to their fate.

The Chairman of the occasion is Mr. Steve Darkwa, a member of Kwhauman Association of New York and a Deputy General Secretary of Okwawu United Association of United States and Canada. Accompanying him will be two other architects of Kwahu Citizens Abroad 2007 Easter Homecoming, Nana Koo Fosu and Mrs. Florence Ofori.
