Kwakwaduam Association of New York participates in World Afrikan Diaspora Union (WADU) Forum at the AU-UN Mission

The Kwakwaduam Association of New York was invited to participate in the World African Diaspora Union forum at the AU-UN Mission in New York on May 28th . Kwakwaduam was represented by Dr. Kwame Aniapam Boafo a former President and now a Consultant to the Organization
The program was jointly chaired by H.E. Ambassador Tete Antonio, the Permanent Observer Mission of the African Union to the United Nations and H.E. Ambassador Courtney Ratttray, the Permanent Observer Mission of Jamaica to the United Nations.
Dr. Georgina Falu and Ital Kofi Ital of WADU jointly hosted the program. The Guest Speaker was Professor Leonard Jeffries who paid a glowing tribute to the historical trailblazers of Africa; Kwame Nkrumah, Patrice Lumumba, Jomo Kenyatta, Sekou Toure, Haille Salassie, Mandela amomg others.

Other speakers included Professor Nana James Small Vice President of WADU, Attorney at Law Empress Marina Blake WADU Political Commissioner, Sister Zewditu Fesseha, Founder of Ethiopian Social Assistance Committee, Professor Basir Mchawi WADU cultural Commissioner and Youth Presenter Patrick Willis.

In his submission, Dr. Boafo talked about the disease burden in Africa and in Ghana particularly and how by a piecemeal approach Kwakwaduam is tackling some of the health risks and issues in some villages and towns in Ghana. He indicated that Kwakwaduam is a small nonprofit organization whose mission among others is to organize activities to improve the quality of global health care. He said over the years Kwakwaduam has provided water for the school for the blind in Akropong, provided water for the a section of the town of Akropong, provided computers for the Akropong Presbyterian University and provided logistical supplies for several health institutions in the Akwapim region of Ghana including TQMHospital. He read a letter from the Prampram Health Disctrict of Ghana indicating a reduction in the stillbirth rate in the district because of Electronic Fetal Doppler Stethoscopes donated to them by Kwakwaduam
