Kwakwaduam Association Inc Holds Annual Dinner Dance

The Kwakwaduam Association Inc of New York held its annual end of year Dinner Dance in a most spectacular fashion in Yonkers, New York on January the 8th

The theme of the function was “Giving Back to Society” and proceeds were to go towards the purchase of ‘Talking Calculators” for the School for the Blind in Ghana. The function raised about $5,000.

The Chairman of the occasion was Dr. William Ofori Boah, a Pediatric Nephrologist of New York. In his speech he commended Kwakwaduam Association for living up to their vision and mission. He said he had followed the progress of the organization was indeed impressed with their outlook and their programs to help the community here and those back home. He admonished other organization to emulate such vision.

Other dignitaries who added color to the function included Mr. Kojo Christian – of the Ghana Mission to the UN, Rev Yaw Asiedu of the First Ghana Presbyterian Church who offered the opening prayer, Mr. Atta Amoyaw President of Okuapeman Fekuw and his wife, Lawyer Essien a Patron of the Organization and his wife. Others included some Executive members of NCOGA, (Ms Ivy Quarshie, Ms Hajia Ramatu, Mr. Agbenu ), Mr. Ofori Anoh Okuapeman representative to the NCOGA and Nana Oteng Bosompeng to mention just a few.

A spectrum of awards was given to deserving Members. The list included; Dr. Abrokwa, Ms Nicole Attram, Dr, Bah Asante, Mr. Gilbert Boateng, Ms Joyce Reid, Mr. Rex Ofori, Mr. Paul Ansah and Heynelda Marcano a diabetic nurse specialist who has given multiple lectures to Kwakwaduam on “Living with Diabetes” and provided several glucometers for diabetic monitoring to the Organization

In his remarks, the President of the Organization, Dr. Kwame Aniapam Boafo thanked the Executive and Members of the Organization for holding true the mission of the organization and suggested that through unity, respect for family and community, self determination, purpose, cooperative economics, creativity and faith Kwakwaduam will continue to do well.

The music and the dancing were infectious. It was indeed great fun. The function was covered by the AMANDLA News Organization.
