KNUST Alumni of Washington DC Metro Chapter Launches its website

The most vibrant Ghanaian Alumni group in the Metro Washington area (District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia) is making greater waves. The launching of the website will greatly improve the dissemination of information among members and also serve as the official mouthpiece of the chapter. The website address is www.knustalumnidmv.com

This alumni group is made up of former students, lecturers and everyone who has an affiliation with Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology living in the region including family and friends. This area due to its close proximity to the political capital of the United States has a large cross-section of professionals. At the last count there were almost 400 potential members. The website has a section which allows members to register in the database, and also makes provision for the payment of dues and donations.

Since its inauguration in April 2009, the chapter has indicated by all the activities that have occurred that the enthusiasm is there and the potential for growth cannot be underestimated. Based on this we are proud to announce that our chapter has been selected to host the Bi-Annual National North American Convention of our Alumni group in 2011. More information will be made available on our website. There is a resources page which provides contacts of industry experts/mentors who are ready to serve as resource personnel in particular subject areas. The industry experts can also provide you with important contacts which will greatly improve your network. We believe the insight of someone who has walked the path will make the learning curve much better. The resources page also has a job board which provides inside information on available jobs in the region. Event announcements will be made on the website and a Google calendar link will enable members to update the event s notifications on their personal calendars. Since the website is a dynamic tool and will be relevant based on its utilization, the current executives implore all members to visit the page, register their information and stay involved in the activities. Constructive feedback is encouraged and comments and inputs can be sent to info@knustalumnidmv.com to help improve on the website.

The DMV Chapter Executives will want to thank everyone for the support we have received since our inauguration. For the potential members who are sitting on the fence waiting for the organization to gain “better traction” we say our Alumni group is only as strong as the involvement of our members and we need everyone on board.
