"Ghanaian" teen wanted in school killing

TORONTO — Police have arrested a 17-year-old in the killing of 15-year-old Jordan Manners who was shot Wednesday inside his school, C.W. Jefferys Collegiate Institute.

The 17-year-old can not be named under Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police say a second suspect is at large and is armed and dangerous. Collins Poku Duah, 17, is wanted for first-degree murder by police and is described as 5-foot-9, 200 pounds and has short black hair. Police received limited judicial authorization to identify this suspect because of "extenuating circumstances."

Police received a call for the incident Wednesday around 2:30 p.m. Manners was taken to hospital on an emergency-run where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Det. Chris Buck said Thursday afternoon he was confident that an arrest would be made speedily, but hours turned into days and no arrest was made as the community came together with a candle-light vigil and a weekend barbecue designed to raise funds for Manners' funeral.

The school was filled with 800 students and teachers at the time of the shooting in the west-end of the city near Finch Ave. and Keele St.

Police said more information will be released at a news conference on Monday.

The teenager arrested is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.
