Ghanaian Breast Care Consultant Wins International Award

Breast Care Specialist and C.E.O of Peace and Love Hospitals, Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe-Addai has added to her collection cabinet, the 2012 edition of ‘Women That Soar’, International Medicine category award.

The event is to award distinctive women of diverse communities, celebrating them for overcoming personal and professional trials whiles soaring to success.

A prospective recipient should have also excelled in her area of discipline, changing the lives of some persons positively as a result.

This year’s fifth annual televised programme was held at The African American Museum, Dallas in USA, by Gina Grant WTS’, a Dallas based media content development company and brain behind the event.

In her acceptance speech, Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe-Addai paid glowing tribute to the “Susan G. Komen Ghana Race For The Cure”, for its unflinching support over the years in supporting the fight against breast cancer globally, and more especially in Ghana.

She also seized the platform to urge benevolent societies join in propagating the negative effects of breast cancer among women.

Dr Mrs Beatrice Wiafe-Addai, who also doubles as the President of Breast Care International, reinforced that her campaign against breast cancer in recent times emphasized more on the perception among some women in developing countries in Africa, that the disease is caused by witchcraft or ‘evil doers’, an area which she says intensive education on it had changed the minds of many.

She remarked that the award will further spur her on so that more lives will be saved thereby minimizing cases of the menace in Ghana and other countries in the Sub-region.

Dr Mrs Wiafe, who has held special fora for some doctors and health attendants in handling cases of breast cancer, said she will continue to offer such services to enhance more knowledge in the area.

Other prominent awardees included Mina Chang- Humanitarian category, Katrina Mc Ghee – Entrepreneur category, Joanne King Herring - Legacy Award category and Dina Dwyer-Owens - National Business Award category.
