Ewe Association holds Xmas Party

Burbank,IL, December 23 2006- The Martinique Banquet Hall at 8200 S Cicero avenue in Burbank IL, hosted the Ewe Association'S annual Xmas/New Year party, on December 23 2006.

The party was attended by the Ewe Association's faithful. In attendance was Torgbui Venya 1, (Kwame Ampofo) chief of the Ewes in Chicago and his elders.

The number of attendees was relatively small, if one considers the number of Ewes living in the Chicago metropolitan area. Despite the size, the crowd was jubilant, vociferous and enjoyed themselves well to old school, borborbor, agbadza and hip hop music provided by upcoming Freedom Sounds, with D. J Master P on the controls. The borborbor and agbadza music kept most attendees on the floor but cha slide stole the show ! The youth joined their parents on the floor to turn, twist and jump to the tune of cha slide!.

Most celebrants were not happy when they realized that the closing time was 1 AM instead of the 2 AM advertised by the organizers.

In his message to members of the Association and Ewes in Chicago and its metropolis, the President of the Ewe Association, Dr. Kutame, asked members to be compassionate towards one another. He explained that compassion is borne out of respect for ourselves to the feelings of others. Dr. Mark Kutame asked those who do not belong to any organization to consider joining one and used the tragedy in Houston ,Texas, on December 15 , 2006, to elaborate his point. One Mr.Kwaku Feglo, a Geo-physicist and an Ewe, died in his apartment in Houston and authorities there could not find his nearest relative to claim his body and estate. Obviously, if he had belonged to an organization , the embarrassment to the community could have been avoided.

One thing encouraging to the attendees was that, the youth, who are the future leaders of the Association were seen socializing and having fun together.
