Citizen donates to school

Offuman (B/A,) Feb. 16, GNA -- A Ghanaian based in Canada, Mr. Charles Kwasi Gyan and his family have donated educational items worth more than 45,000 dollars to K. Fah Local Authority Primary School at Offuman in the Techiman Municipality. The items include four footballs, two sets of jerseys, used clothing, reading books, erasers, 520 plastic sharpeners, 480 mathematical sets, 1,200 pencils, 470 exercise books and pens for the teaching staff. The presentation of the items coincided with the launch of K. Nyame Education Fund aimed at supporting needy but brilliant children.
Presenting the items, Mr. Gyan, a citizen of the area and former pupil of the school expressed concern about the low level of education in the area, saying his gesture was his contribution towards its improvement. Mr. Gyan said he realized he had to assist his alma mater and for that matter, children in the school to pursue their education to improve the socio-economic development of the area. He called on the traditional authorities to support the fund. Nana Okofo Asiedu Gyeaman II, Omanhene of Offuman Traditional Area, acknowledged the efforts of Mr. Gyan and expressed the hope that the gesture would be extended to other schools in the area. 16 Feb 07
