Belgian pupils donate to Street Academy

Accra, Oct. 11, GNA - Pupils of De Tweesprong School in Belgium on Wednesday presented stationery and 200 Ghana cedis cash to pupils of Street Academy in Accra. Ms Evy Devleiger, a Belgian Peace Corps volunteer who presented the items said they were contributions from the pupils to support vulnerable pupils in Africa.

She said pupils in Belgium had planned an exchange programme with pupils of the Academy.

Ms Joana Darkoa Ofori, Project Co-ordinator of Street Academy who received the items commended Ms Devleiger for the assistance to the pupils most of them from deprived communities. Mr Ataa Lartey, Director of Street Academy said the pupils were identified from various communities and admitted to undertake skill training for three years and later enrolled in formal education. He appealed to corporate bodies to assist the Academy to train more street children to become useful citizens in future.
