Agona Govt hospital receives US$3,000 donation

Agona (Ash), April 12, GNA - The Agona Government Hospital, in the Sekyere South District, has received large quantities of bed sheets and patients' gowns worth US$3,000.00.

The donation was made by three citizens of Agona resident in Philadelphia in the United States (US).

Messrs David Amofah, Joseph Amofa and Osei Tano, who are members of the Agonaman Association in the US, said it was their contribution to help equip and support the hospital to provide quality health care to the people. Some South Africa-based citizens of the town had earlier presented furniture, syringes, gloves and other consumables to the hospital. Mr Amofah, who handed over the items to the hospital, on behalf of the others at a ceremony on Sunday, said he hoped the donation would bring some comfort to patients on admission.

He spoke of a sordid experience he had sometime ago, when he was rushed to the hospital for treatment and said this has strengthened his resolve to do everything he could to assist improve facilities there. Mr Obeng Boateng Acheampong, who has been facilitating donations from citizens of the area resident abroad, appealed to all to join in efforts at promoting the development of the town.

Madam Felicia Azantilow, a Medical Assistant of the hospital, who received the items, said the items had come as a big relief to the hospital and thanked the donors for the gesture.

She appealed to other non-resident citizens to come to the aid of the facility to enable them to provide quality care.
