Airtel donates kits to National Cricket team

Accra, May 4, GNA - Telecommunication giants, Airtel on Wednesday donated playing kits worth $10,000 to the National senior cricket team ahea= d of their participation in the ICC-Africa Regional WCQL Division 2 tournamen= t in South Africa later this month.

The national cricket team will vie for honours with eight others at th= e tournament to be staged from 13-19 May in Benoni, South Africa. The items donated included a set of Airtel-branded track suits, playin= g jerseys and polo shirts, which are meant to boost the team's participatio= n at the tournament.

Lydia Narh, Brand Communications Manager of Airtel who made the donation in Accra said the gesture was motivated by the huge potential leve= l of the team and urged them to return with the ultimate. She expressed her outfit's gratitude for the opportunity to be associated with the National Cricket team and assured of continuous support of the team towards their pursuance of higher objectives.

Dr William Ampofo, President of the Ghana Cricket Association (GCA) commended Airtel for the timely donation, which he said will boost the mora= l of the team and inspire them to success.

He said the gesture demonstrates the telecommunication providers' support and commitment to assist lesser known sports and fulfill their social responsibilities.

Erasmus Adorkor, Chief Sports Development Officer of the National Sports Council (NSC) lauded Airtel for the donation, whilst appealing to other corporate institutions to support other lesser known sporting disciplines.
