PSWU leader urges workers to work harder to merit motivation

Tema, Dec. 27, GNA - Mr Emmanuel Tei Ofori, Deputy General Secretary of the Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) has called on workers to put in their maximum at work in order to qualify for motivation from management.

Speaking at an annual Christmas party organised by the management of the Tema Development Corporation (TDC) for its staff last night at Tema, he deplored the attitude of workers who lazy about but expect reward. While calling on both management and workers to corporate and play effective role to ensure industrial peace, Mr Ofori entreated workers to resort to laid down procedure to seek redress of their grievances to avoid strike action, which should be the last resort.

Madam Elizabeth Mansa Banson, Managing Director outlined activities of the corporation and commended the entire workers for their hard work, which has contributed to a lot of achievements.

In the past year, she said, the TDC completed servicing 623 residential plots at Zenu and 16 acres serviced commercial plots at community 22. The corporation has started sites and services at community 25, where infrastructure services like roads, water, electricity, drains and kerbs would be provided for about 680 plots for the development of residential and commercial activities.

The Managing Director said the corporation would continue to pursue its staff training to ensure that it maintains the lead in the real estate development in the country.

Madam Banson however, stated that, a few legal tussle concerning development at Adjei Kojo, near Ashaiman has been the corporation's set back but hoped to overcome it to ensure smooth running of the administration.

Awards ranging from television sets, refrigerators and ghetto blasters were given to workers, who have excelled in their areas as well as long serving staff.
