Goldfield to invest additional $200 mn in operations

Accra, March 13, GNA - Goldfields Company Limited is to invest an additional 200 million dollars to expand its operations in Ghana. The company, which began its operations in 1993, has already invested 500 million dollars in its operations at Tarkwa in the Western Region.

This was announced by Mr Ian Cockerill rpt Ian Cockerill, President and Chief Executive Officer, when he led a delegation from the Company to pay a courtesy call on President John Agyekum Kufuor at the Castle, Osu on Friday.

Mr Cockerill said the investment climate in Ghana was very congenial and worthwhile in view of the three major mining companies investing in Ghana.

The three companies are Newmont, Anglogold and Goldfields. He said it was worthwhile to invest under such congenial atmosphere to contribute to the growth of the country.

"We have enjoyed good business in Ghana". President Kufuor asked investors and other stakeholders in the economy to cooperate and support the Government to attract more investors.

He asked them to take advantage of the good investment climate for their mutual benefit.
