With the exception of Dr. Nkrumah and Kutu Acheampong, every government in Ghana dating back to Ankrah's NLC, Kofi Abrefa Busia's PP, JJ Rawlings PNDC/NDC, JA Kufuor's NPP; has followed the dictates of the IMF, and yet the country has not made any headway in our development efforts. Kwesi Botchwey was the longest serving Finance Minister in our short history, and throughout his time in that post took direct orders from the IMF technocrats in Washington DC in the 80s and 90s. So how do we remember Kwesi Botchwey as the longest serving Finance Minister in Ghana. We remember him as a total failure - he was useless to say the least.
The ultimate question is: Has Ghana benefited in anyway from IMF's conditionalities? If the answer is no, then why do our Finance Ministers continue to collaborate with the Breton Wood organization? Seriously, is the black man ready and able to manage his own affairs?

A thoughtful Minster and government would weigh up all the factors and devise fair approaches to doing these things. It is always best to adopt a gradualist approach taking into consideration reactions of the people

The NPP will do the same as the NDC when it comes to dealing with the IMF.They are all fans of the IMF and ghanaians should not expect anything different from an NPP government. The NPP is just making noise for votes.
