Arrival of emergency power barges delayed

The emergency power barges to address the energy crisis will not arrive this month as expected.

This is because the necessary civil works to precede the arrival of the barges are yet to be done.

A report by GBC said the Minister of Power, Dr. Kwabena Donkor, quoted engineers as saying that it will take three and half months to complete civil works at the ports.

Majority of Ghanaians expected the barges to arrive this month to mitigate the debilitating effects of the power crisis the country faces.

Ghana is currently shedding between 450 megawatts and 650 megawatts of power during off peak and peak periods respectively.
