Samreboi: Cocoa beans rotting as a result of bad roads

Residents in the Wassa Amenfi West District have attributed their rotten cocoa beans to the sorry nature of their roads.

They say cocoa farmers are finding it very difficult to transport cocoa beans and other farm products to the market centers, thus, leaving hundreds of bags of cocoa beans to go waste.

A resident who spoke to Adom News said “Not long ago, a temporary excavator has been deployed to level the road but it has become deteriorated again and calls made to government through our DCEs and MPs have always proved futile.

“We will not vote for them in the 2016 elections if they still don’t listen to us and fix our roads. In fact, roads linking Mumuni and Samreboi, which is very busy when it comes to transportation, has become very bad, thus, making it very difficult for our farmers to do businesses,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi West, John Gyetuah has pleaded with the residents to restore calm because talks are underway to get contractors to start work on the road.
