Stock index inches up

Accra, June 11, GNA - The main index of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) made a rare gain in trading on Thursday on the back of a rise in the share price of Ecobank Ghana Limited. The main benchmark GSE All-Share index rose by 2.85 points to 6,626.48 points from Wednesday's 6,623.63 points. Change for the year to date is -36.48 per cent. Traded volumes closed at 96,400 compared to 54,100 shares on Wednesday while market capitalisation was also better at GH¢16,154.07 from GH¢16,151.99 on Wednesday. On the broader market, there were two price changes, one up and one down. State Insurance Company continued its slide down after losing GH¢0.01 at GH¢0.25 but Ecobank gained GH¢0.02 from GH¢2.00 M
