StanChart is best consumer internet bank in Ghana

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana Limited has been adjudged the ‘Best Consumer Internet Bank’ in Ghana by the Global Finance Awards 2014.

The Bank’s strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, evidence of tangible benefits gained from internet initiatives, web designs and functionality were cited by Global Finance as key factors in the selection criteria.

Standard Chartered Bank Ghana continues to demonstrate an excellent ability to combine a deep knowledge of the local environment, having been in Ghana since 1896, with a well-coordinated global expertise in enhancing its client relationship experience.

Over the years, Standard Chartered has made a conscious effort to extend its customers’ digital lifestyle into banking.

Recognising that digitisation in the banking sector will transform Ghana’s entire economy, the Bank has introduced products such as the mobile banking application (“app”), ‘Breeze’, online banking, the only ‘first generation’ digital branch and mobile pop-up booths to make banking simpler and engaging.

In announcing the award, Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher and editorial editor of Global Finance said:

“The Internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank. The continuing improvements in Internet offerings represented by this year’s entries show that more significant internet banking developments are still ahead of us”.

Commenting on the award, Henry Baye, Head of Retail Clients, Standard Chartered Bank said: “As the world continues to transform; becoming more sophisticated and complex, we want to ensure our customers are comfortably catered for.”

“Digitisation and appropriate use of the web have become the benchmark for success in the current dispensation and we are happy to be leading the way in this regard. As a Bank, we will remain focused on delivering innovative products for our customers, seeing as it is one of the many ways we can deliver on our commitment to being here for good.”

The awards ceremony will be held in New York on October 28, 2014 and would be published in the December issue of Global Finance.
