SSNIT introduces monthly billing system for institutions

Takoradi, July 5, GNA - The management of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) would soon introduce a monthly billing system called Employment Member Account Reconciliation (EMAR) for institutions, Mr Enoch Acheampong, Takoradi Area Manager of SSNIT said on Friday.

He said the bills to be distributed by a courier company would be sent to institutions indebted to SSNIT.

Mr Acheampong announced this at a public forum organised for SSNIT scheduled officers from various institutions at Takoradi. He explained that the bills were estimates of the institutions indebtedness but the actual indebtedness could be determined after inspection of records at the institutions by SSNIT officials. Mr Acheampong said institutions that failed to honour their indebtedness three months after submission of the bills would be prosecuted.

He said under EMAR managements of institutions were expected to provide their current addresses, telephone numbers and locations to facilitate distribution of the bills. In addition, they were to keep records on salaries to prepare reports on contributions by employees for reconciliation on disputes over bills. Mr Acheampong said managements were expected to submit reports on contributions by employees when paying the bills and pay contributions regularly to prevent huge debts to SSNIT.
