HFC recovery pushes up GSE index

Accra, July 30, GNA - The recovery of HFC Bank in trading on Monday pushed up the main gauge of Ghana Stock Exchange to begin the week in positive territory.

The Index gained 8.35 points after HFC regained the GH=A2 0.0450 it lost on Friday. It ended trading at 5,363.74 points from 5,355.39 points while change for the year was also higher at 7.15 per cent. Total shares that changed hands went up slightly at 344,200 from 329,800 on Friday.

There were five price changes, all positive.

Enterprise Insurance Company was GH=A2 0.0200 better at GH=A2 1.0800, Fan Milk Limited rose by GH=A2 0.0010 at GH=A2 1.9660, Ghana Commercial Bank gained GH=A2 0.0003 at GH=A2 0.6865, HFC Bank gained GH=A2 0.0450 at GH=A2 0.5400 and SG-SSB gained GH=A2 0.0009 at GH=A2 0.9010.

Market capitalization was GH=A2 11,517.63 million from GH=A211,512.22 on Friday.
